Battle #5

Overthinking Everything

There is a kind of thinking that does not solve anything.

It only continues.

Long after the moment has passed.

A conversation ends.

Nothing dramatic happened.
Nothing clearly wrong.

But later, the mind replays it.

What I said.
What I didn’t say.
How it might have sounded.

Small details suddenly become important.

A pause.
A word choice.
A tone.

And the mind starts adjusting the past.

I should have said it differently.
Why did I say that?
Did they notice?

The strange part is that none of this changes anything.

The moment is already gone.

The other person has probably moved on.

But inside, the conversation continues.

Sometimes for hours.
Sometimes for days.

For a long time I thought this was useful.

That I was learning.
Improving.
Becoming more aware.

But slowly I noticed something else.

This kind of thinking rarely leads to clarity.

It leads to exhaustion.

Because the goal is not understanding.

The goal is control.

Trying to perfect something that has already happened.

Once I saw that, I started doing something simpler.

When the replay begins, I don’t try to win it.

I just notice it.

“That already happened.”

And then I let the thought continue without following it.

Not perfectly.
Not every time.

But sometimes.

And those times are enough to change something.

Because not every thought needs an answer.

Some of them simply need to pass through
without turning into a full conversation.
